Research interests

My main interest is in ocean circulation (past and present) with focus on the Southern Hemisphere. So far I have worked on surface and deep paleoceanographic reconstructions in the Agulhas System, in the South East Pacific and in the Western Equatorial Pacific. In these last areas with special emphasis on past variability of the Antarctic Intermediate Water. This research is mainly based on proxies in foraminifera (stable isotopes, trace elements and radiocarbon). I am also interested in improving the present coverage of different water mass tracers (e.g. stable isotopes in sea water).
