Research interests

Bedform crest bifurcations are recurrent, widespread characteristics of bedform fields in all environments; their existence has been reported in subaerial as well as in subaqueous conditions, from aeolian to riverine, to estuarine, to marine bedforms. The knowledge of the mechanisms behind bifurcations can lead to a better understanding of bedform pattern organization and bedform dynamics.

The aim of my research is to contribute to the understanding bedform crest bifurcations. It will be pursued through the following objectives:
1) To understand how bifurcations evolve in space and time;
2) To identify the processes in charge for the generation of bifurcations.

My PhD project is being carried out within the DFG-funded International Research Training Group INTERCOAST – ‘Integrated Coastal Zone and Shelf-Sea Research’, as a partnership between the Universities of Bremen (Germany) and Waikato (New Zealand).
