INTERCOAST congratulates Friederike Gesing on graduating with highest honors (summa cum laude). She successfully defended her dissertation entitled "Working with Nature: An ethnography of soft coastal protection in Aotearoa New Zealand" on April 13th 2015.

Friederike has just recently returned from a 2-month follow-up research visit to New Zealand, where she met with key collaborators of her ethnographic fieldwork. In March, she has delievered a keynote speech at the annual conference of the Dune Restoration Trust of New Zealand in Whitianga (Coromandel) about her project, and has given a talk at the Waikato University Geography Colloquium.
