Habitat dynamics in response to constructional impacts (Jade-Weser-Port) : a biological approach
The increasing anthropogenic impact on coastal ecosystems in the last decades emphasizes the need for a profound understanding of the consequences of disturbance events on ecosystem processes and functioning. The benthic macrofauna (organisms retained in a 1 mm mesh) is an important component in marine ecosystems, playing a vital role in nutrient cycling, detrital decomposition and as food source for higher trophic levels.
