MARUM Supervision Workshop
Supervising and working with the next generation of scientists - generations Y and Z
When people of different ages and generations work together, different experiences, values, and work ethics become apparent. At MARUM, we value this diversity, but at the same time, it can be challenging for us.
In this workshop, we will talk about the commonalities and differences in the generations and their value for collaborations and teams. We will also discuss challenges and strategies in the daily supervision of ECR.
Note: In a second workshop on 26 October, we will address intercultural challenges in supervision

- From baby boomers to generation Z – different generations in our work environment
- What are typical characteristics of people from the generations Y and Z” and how are these different from those of the generations of PhD and postdoc advisors?
- Which expectations do current ECRs have and what does this mean for their advisors?
- Which challenges do we experience and which strategies do we have / can we develop to meet them?
