The MARUM expedition MSM 119 will depart from St. John's, Canada, on July 8. Destination is the southern Reykjanes Ridge in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Here, the team will investigate sediment and ocean crust. On board is the seafloor drill rig MARUM-MeBo70. The team will use cores to assess the global importance of these circulation systems for the exchange between the crust and the oceans as well as the deep biosphere and their role in the carbon cycle. Chief scientist is Prof. Achim Kopf.

The team of expedition MSM119 will report about the trip and everyday life on board in an expedition logbook (in German).
