One of the objectives of IODP-ICDP Expedition 364 to the Chicxulub impact crater was to test models of impact-generated hydrothermal systems.  Initial results indicate there was a vigorous, long-lived hydrothermal system at the crater.  Mineral assemblages track the evolution of the system from sterilizing high temperatures to those suitable for hyperthermophilic and thermophilic organisms.  The Chicxulub system is a proxy for impact-generated hydrothermal systems produced during a Hadean epoch of impact bombardment and support an impact-origin of life hypothesis.
