Disassembly

Slide the support cylinder out of the base plate as shown. You may have to use a rubber hammer.
Place the squeezer on the short plastic spacer ring and use the spindle to drive the base cylinder out.
When you see the sample, remove the base cylinder and transfer the squeezer to the long spacer ring.
Put two silicone discs with a big hole on the bottom of the plastic ring to protect the drain plate pivot when falling down.
Use the spindle to drive out the sample with upper and lower seals and plunger.
Remove the plunger and the spacer ring to access the sample.
Gently remove the silicone and PTFE seals.
Turn the sample and remove the silicone seal and the drain plate.
Do not forget to peel the filter support screen off the filter paper. Especially the nylon and PEEK screens are hard to see.
  • Seal the sample (squeeze cake) in a plastic bag, enter it into database (offshore DIS) and hand it over to the curator for storage.
  • Clean everything, especially the parts that are in direct contact with either the solid sample or the pore water. (PTFE seals, drain plate, base cylinder, liner, funnel). The PTFE and titanium parts may be cleaned with concentrated nitric acid, if necessary. You should use only dilute acids or normal detergents to clean the plastic parts (liner tube, funnel, spacer rings.
  • The support cylinder and base plate are made from high tension anodized aluminum and should be cleaned with water, detergent or dilute acids only.
  • The last cleaning step is always repeated rinsing with distilled water and dry with compressed air!!
