Supervision and guidance of PhD students – challenges and chances
Supervision of PhD students can be quite challenging. Both, the Phd student and the advisor have expectations regarding the progress and outcome of the PhD project. As in all other relationships, there are some challenges in the communication between PhD students and their advisor(s) that can lead to difficulties which are not in favour of a fruitful working atmosphere.
In this workshop, we will discuss the challenges and chances involved in supervising PhD students. Participants of the workshop are encouraged to share their experiences and discuss ideas for improvement. Together, we will develop strategies to develop a positive working atmosphere and for trouble-shooting.
