Annual Meeting 2015
2-4 September, 2015 at UQAM, Montréal, Canada
Following the ArcTrain Summer School 2015 in northern Labrador PhD students and PIs from Germany and Canada met during the second Annual Meeting at UQAM. The meeting was officially opened during the reception offered by the Consulate General of Germany on September 1st.
During this event we had the chance to participate in lively discussions about our scientific work and organizational matters concerning ArcTrain in general with our Canadian partners and the advisory board members. The meeting included a series of talks by the PhD students reporting on the progress of their work and their achievements since the last Annual Meeting in Bremen 2014. Each student prepared a 15 minutes talk (including discussion) during which we have been taken away in the world of remote sensing of sea ice properties, down to sediment sample analyses based on different proxies (e.g., planktonic and benthic foraminifera, dinocysts, biomarker, chemical tracers), followed by investigating the past and present using different modeling approaches.
This status seminar was accompanied by thesis committee meetings and the meeting of the Advisory board. Additionally, we participated in a workshop in which we finalized the report and presentation of the ArcTrain Summer School 2015 to northern Labrador, specifically the Torngat Mountains.
