The Bremen International Graduate School for Marine Sciences, GLOMAR, hosts PhD students from MARUM and its cooperating institutions who aim to obtain a doctorate at the University of Bremen. GLOMAR members study different fields in marine sciences ranging from the natural to the social sciences. The Graduate School offers a dedicated training programme with expert and skills courses that account for the diversity of fields in marine sciences, and soft skills training to complement the education of scientists at an early stage of their career. The graduate school fosters transdisciplinary exchange and collaboration across different disciplines in marine sciences.
PhD students at MARUM are fully integrated into the researcher community. PhD student representatives are part of the governance structure of MARUM and are involved in advancing the Graduate School programme. Initiatives for events organised by the PhD student community, such as seminars, workshops, annual PhD Days and similar, are highly appreciated and supported in MARUM.
