Marine Palynology laboratories

The marine palynology division maintains laboratories for all stages of sediment sample processing and analyses on organic- and calcareous walled dinoflagellates and pollen/spores. Furthermore it maintains facilities that enable the sample processing for isotopic, elemental and biomarker studies on organic-walled and calcareous dinoflagellates.

Laboratories:
Room GeoB 0310: HF Laboratory
Room GeoB 5030: “Sieve and slide preparation laboratory”

Equipment:
Centrifuge with free-swinging sample containers suitable for several sample sizes (compatible for 300 ml Buckets, glass-ware of different size and volume and “eppendorf” tubes), vibration table, high precision sieves (10 μm, 15 mμ, 20 μm), drying cabinet, utra-sonic baths, vacuum filtration systems, high precision scales, cold storage (+4°C).

In cooperation with the department Historical Geology/Palaeontology several light microscopes with 100, 400 and 1000x magnification and HD camera systems are available.
