Laboratory Container 1
The ESO Lab Container 1 provides the offshore facilities for core curation procedures.
Laboratory Container 2
The ESO Laboratory Container 2 provides the offshore facility for geochemical and microbiological analyses. All ESO personnel and scientists assigned to the Lab Container share the responsibility of processing analyses following IODP guidelines and maintaining the lab according to IODP standards.
The ESO Lab Container 2 is permanently equipped with:
- AC / heater
- fume hood
- 2 sinks (hot/cold water if connected to freshwater)
- small fridge
- deep freezer (-20°C)
- power: 220V, 50-60Hz, Eurosocket
- pure water Milli-Q®
Laboratory Container 3
The ESO Laboratory Container 3 provides additional offshore facilities for microbiological analyses. This container is temperature controlled and provides the opportunity to work on the material down to +4°C. All ESO personnel and scientists assigned to the Lab Container share the responsibility of processing analyses following IODP guidelines and maintaining the lab.
The ESO Lab Container 3 is permanently equipped with:
- Centrifuge
- fume hood
- 2 sinks (hot/cold water if connected to freshwater)
- CertoClave
- deep freezer (-80°C)
- power: 220V, 50-60Hz, Eurosocket
