Recent borehole observatory installations offshore Japan unravel how much energy is released in slow slip earthquakes, as recently published in Science by observatory specialist Eiichiro Araki (JAMSTEC) and co-chief scientists Demian Saffer (PSU) and Achim Kopf (MARUM Bremen) after IODP expedition 365.
