With lectures and workshops on campus, the University of Bremen invited children to its annual Children's University this spring. Girls and boys between the ages of 8 and 12 became young researchers for two weeks, and together with scientists they were able to discover exciting areas of research. MARUM UNISchullabor also participated again this year with a workshop program.

The children's university workshops took place during the first week of the Easter vacations. Under the title "What's diving?", each of the three workshop days at the MARUM UNISchullabor gave 10 children the opportunity to build their own underwater vehicles and diving bells and to try them out in a pool.

While building the so-called underwater gliders and diving bells, the group of young researchers investigated the physical principles of buoyancy. With the self-built underwater devices, they were able to test ascending and descending in a pool of water.

The Children's University is organized by the University & School Transfer Office of the University of Bremen. This year, following a break due to the pandemic, it was again held as much as possible in person. The individual lectures and workshops are contributed by numerous dedicated scientists from the University and the institutes in the Technology Park Uni Bremen. The Children's University is financially supported by Sparkasse Bremen.
