Communications
For the Offshore Phase, telecommunication services may be provided by the platform. However, this depends very much on the communications infrastructure available. Therefore, ESO has its own Starlink© system. The system is very portable and can be deployed rapidly on any platform. In addition to Starlink, ESO also has a set of mobile 3G antennas as redundant communications system for when operating close to the coast and in reach of mobile network.
