Eske Willerslev is a pioneer of applications of ancient DNA in paleoenvironmental studies. He is the head of the GeoGenetics institute at the University of Copenhagen and holder of many prestigeous international awards. His visit at MARUM heralds the initiation of joint research to unlock the treasure trove of information on past ocean environments in the record of ancient DNA in marine sediments. Eske will participate in this research as one of the three U Bremen Excellence Chairs funded through the Cluster of Excellence "Ocean floor - the Earth's uncharted interface".  On the occassion of his visit, he will present a talk at MARUM on Tuesday 20.11.2018 at 2 pm in seminar room 2070. Following a talk, there will be an opportunity to meet him in the MARUM Gallery; coffee & biscuits will be provided.
