Forschungsinteressen

Als Geomikrobiologin liegt mein Forschungsschwerpunkt auf der Verbindung zwischen Organismen und ihrer Funktion im Ökosystem. In letzter Zeit habe ich mich auf hydrothermale Systeme konzentriert und hierbei untersucht, wie die mikrobielle Gemeinschaft die hydrothermal zugeführten, reduzierten Substanzen nutzt und wie toxische Substanzen, wie z.B. Arsen, die mikrobielle Biodiversität und die Ausprägung von Adaptationsmechanismen beeinflussen. Um mikrobielle Gemeinschaften und Anpassungen zu beschreiben, untersuche ich ihr Lipidom und ich verwende Markierungsexperimente, um mikrobielle Funktionsweisen zu untersuchen.
