PhD Project
Proteomic study on enzymatic degradation pathway of fucoidan in marine bacteria
Fucoidan is a prevalent sulfated heteropolysaccharides found in the cell wall of brown algae. It is believed to have an important role in the carbon cycle in the ocean and to have a wide range of therapeutic potentials. However, because of the complexity and irregularity in its chemical structures, fucoidan’s biological activities and applications remain challenging and understudied. Thus, it is essential to establish a better understanding of catabolic pathways of fucoidan.
The aim of this PhD project is to explore the enzymatic degradation of fucoidan in marine bacteria.
