Cyst of Biecheleria cincta Zhaohe et al., 2013

Field characteristics:
Spherical cysts covered with numerous solid short spines. The numerous alveolar vesicles that are typical for the motile can be reflected on the cyst wall. Archeopyle is a circular hole.

Dimensions: 13 - 17 µm, spines 0.5 - 1 µm.
Stratigraphic range: Recent

Comparison with other species:
Cyst of Biecheleria cincta differ from those of Biecheleria baltica in being larger and having a round archeopyle. It differs from the other transparant species with solid processes in having small spines that are not acuminate, branched or conical and having a circular archeopyle.
