Research project

"Linking the Holocene variability of Svalbard glaciers and ice caps to oceanic heat advection"
My PhD project is embedded in the International Research Training Group ArcTrain and is supervised by Prof. Dr. Dierk Hebbeln.
My research is focussed on the interplay between the Atlantic Water inflow (via the northernmost tip of the North Atlantic Current) and glacier activity in fjords of Spitsbergen and Nordaustlandet (Svalbard/Norwegian Arctic) since the last deglaciation (end of the last ice age). Therefore, I apply multi-proxy analyses including faunal and isotopic analyses of benthic foraminifera as well as analyses of ice-rafted debris and further sediment properties etc.
