Our colleague Dr. Rainer Sieger passed away unexpectedly on October 23. With his extensive knowledge of computer sciences he contributed significantly at MARUM to the establishment of the PANGAEA database system, and subsequently on the scientific staff of the Alfred Wegener Institute was dedicated to its further development and operation. We have lost a respected team colleague and friend.
