Observation in the deep sea is becoming more and more important, and new technologies are needed accordingly. Such technologies are researched, developed and tested in a European, interdisciplinary network.

The project "Intelligent Systems - a Pathway towards sustAinable eduCation, knowledge and empowerment" (IMPACT) is funded by Erasmus+ and coordinated by Prof. Ralf Bachmayer at MARUM - Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen.

Six universities from five countries are involved:

National Technical University of Athens (Greece)
University of Bremen (Germany)
Jacobs University, Bremen (Germany)
University of Girona (Italy)
Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia)
University of Zagreb, Zagreb (Croatia)

The cooperation includes not only research in the fields of marine research, environmental technology and robotics, but also teaching, the exchange of particularly innovative approaches and the discussion of new topics and ideas. The sustainability goals of the United Nations are always part of this process.

Because entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking should also be promoted, an online study module "Entrepreneurship" will be launched in the winter semester 2020. Students will be able to learn how to start up, implement and market their ideas. This is the second online study module. Last year "Intelligent Marine Systems" was developed and implemented for participants worldwide.
