Antje Boetius, Vice-Spokesperson of the cluster "The Ocean in the Earth System" at MARUM and Director of the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), receives the German Environmental Award 2018. The German Federal Environment Foundation honors the marine and polar researcher for her scientific achievements in deep-sea and polar research, which make a decisive contribution to understanding global climate events and the diversity of life. Boetius shares the prize, worth a total of 500,000 euros, with an interdisciplinary team of wastewater experts from Leipzig. The prize will be presented by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in October.
