For its documentation of IODP Expedition 370 "The Temperature limit of the Deep Biosphere of Muroto", the film company Science Media NL has won the second place at the Dutch Film Festival Avond van de Opdrachtfilm. The jury praises the approach of the film team where a complicated story is told in a personal way. The film is an inspiring documentary about modern science with "beautiful images and an adventurous atmosphere, a rather complicated subject that attracts attention," the jury reckons.

What are the limits of life in the deep subseafloor? This question was the focus of the expedition to the Nankai Trough off the Japanese coast. A team of geochemists from the MARUM - Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen participated in this endeavor. The expedition was led by Verena Heuer (MARUM), Fumio Inagaki and Yuki Morono (both from JAMSTEC - Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, Japan).
