I was educated mostly in Italy, at the University of Genoa, a well-known center for Marine Sciences. In my MSc I spent a period abroad in Spain. During my PhD, I travelled as visiting PhD student for several months to Australia, Greece and the UK. I completed my training with several professional courses that helped shape my baggage of technical skills.

  • Feb 2004 – Jul 2006 University of Genoa – Italy – Department for the Study of the territory and its resources. MSc in Marine Environmental Sciences
  • Sept 2000 – Feb 2004 University of Genoa – Italy – Department for the Study of the territory and its resources. BSc in Environmental sciences
  • Nov – Dec 2010 University of Western Australia, Perth, Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems (in collaboration with Shell Australia). Visiting PhD student.
  • Apr – Jul 2010 Brunel University, West London–UK, Institute for the Environment. Visiting PhD student.

  • Mar – Jun 2004 Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – España. ERASMUS student exchange Project.

I deeply enjoy teaching and mentoring students, PhD and postdoctoral researchers. I am convinced that it is my responsibility, as a scientist, to pass what I learned through my research onto the next generation of scientists, technicians and policy-makers. When I teach, I feel accomplished. I also think that teaching is the best way to stay up-to-date with new methodologies and approaches, to connect with brilliant young minds and to improve my ability to communicate difficult concepts in a more effective way.
