Student travel grants

Student travel grants were awarded after a competitive process to encourage early carreer scientists to attend the conference. For students travelling within the EU, the award was 200€ and it was 500€ for students coming from outside the EU. 

Nathaniel Bristow from University of Notre Dame, USA, presented a long talk on "PIV measurements of flow around interacting barchan dunes in a refractive index matched flume"

Julia Cisneros from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, presented a long talk on "Dune morphology and hysteresis in alluvial channels during long-duration floods revealed using high-temporal resolution MBES bathymetry"

Judith Poelman from Wageningen University & Research, the Netherlands, presented a short talk on "Improved quantification of sediment transport in lowland rivers"

Leon Scheiber from Ludwig-Franzius-Institut für Wasserbau, Ästuar- und Küsteningenieurwesen, Hannover, Germany, presented a short talk on "Potential drivers for primary dune growth in the Outer Jade"

Thomas van Veelen from the Energy and Environment Research Group, Swansea University, UK, presented a long talk "On shapes and breaks: modelling the transient evolution of tidal sandbanks"

Awards

Awards, worth 100€ each, were given for the best abstract, short oral presentation, long oral presentation and poster. Congratulations to Thomas van Veelen, Wouter de Weger, Julia Cisneros and Janneke Krabbendam
