Information on COVID-19

During the Ocean Floor Symposium, we'll comply with the Covid-19 restrictions given by the state of Bremen and the University of Bremen.

In view of the high infection figures, the University Executive Board urgently asks you to continue to be cautious, show solidarity with vulnerable people and recommends that you wear an FFP2 mask indoors and in situations where many people come together in a small space. Unlike medical masks, FFP2 masks protect wearers well from a COVID-19 infection.

In order to protect yourself and the participants of the event as best as possible, the following regulations apply to the symposium:

  • When using public transportation (e.g., tram), masks are mandatory.
  • In the conference room, the wearing of a medical mask is mandatory.
  • Furthermore, we would like to urge you to carry out a daily self-test (quick test) before the start of the event.

For this purpose, we have left sufficient tests and masks for all external guests, who stay at the hotel, at the reception of the hotel. Participants who are not staying at the hotel can pick up tests and masks already on Friday (7.10.) and during the Icebreaker in room 0080 (MARUM foyer) if necessary.  Results will not be checked.

Furthermore, we ask all guests to contribute to a safe event by following hygienic measures:

  • Please keep an appropriate distance to other persons, as far as this is possible.
  • Please cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm or into a handkerchief, not into your hand.
  • Please refrain from shaking hands to the greatest extent possible.

Please also note that individuals who test positive for coronavirus by rapid test or PCR test are still required by authorities to immediately seek isolation.

In the interest of all attendees, if you experience symptoms of Covid 19 disease or flu-like symptoms prior to the event, please do not attend the symposium.

If you test positive or experience Covid illness during the symposium, the conference office will be available to answer any questions.

If you would like to get tested at a testing facility, there is one close to the campus. You can book an appointment here.
