The training takes place from Monday to Friday, usually the first week in March
The Training Course
The training course will focus on:
- Introduction to IODP and ECORD
- Virtual shipboard work at BCR/MARUM:
Physical properties - core logging, Sediment visual core description and smear slide analysis, high-resolution linescan imaging and color scanning, Biostratigraphy, Pore water acquisition and analysis, Hardrock core description.
- Introductory seminars to general shipboard activities:
Core splicing and time-series analysis, Downhole Logging Integration, Data Management.
- Interactive session on defining drilling targets and strategies including drilling proposal writing.
How to apply
The application deadline is usually in the beginning of January. To ensure a most effective training the maximum number of participants will be limited to 30.
Successful applicants will be notified by e-mail about admission from mid January until the end of January . After receiving the acceptance letter, admitted participants will have to confirm their participation.
Travel, accommodation and meals must be covered by the participants.
The course fees depend on the career level, the country the participants are affiliated to, namely its respective role in ECORD and IODP (see map to the right), and the sector (academia vs. industry).

We have reserved a limited number of rooms at the hotel 7 things from Sunday to Friday in the week of the ECORD Training Course.
Price (January 2017): 67,50 Euro per night and person inkluding breakfast buffet.
