ROVs

Remotely operated deep diving vehicles at the University of Bremen

With the aim to address contemporary questions and scientific challenges in marine research, and to provide an operational service in the frame of collaborative national and international scientific programs, two dedicated remotely operated vehicles are based at Marum at the University of Bremen.

Scientific observation and light sampling

The CHEROKEE vehicle is available for observation and light sampling operations at depths down to 1000 m. It is lightweight and highly mobile, yet capable of carrying advanced senors and even provides a simple manipulator arm.
For further informations, you are welcome to visit the CHEROKEE pages here. more...

Scientific deepwater operation

The QUEST vehicle is a full sized, socalled "workclass" deepwater ROV, originially designed to serve industrial needs for offshore production and intervention tasks. At Marum, QUEST is continuously adapted to the needs of deepsea research, utilizing its high electrical power and large payload capacity to provide a versatile platform for state-of-the-art deepwater science at water depths down to 4000 m.
