Knudedyb July 2010
The MARUM SD4 cruise with RV Senckenberg to Knudedyb, Denmark was designed to gather information of the short-term small-scale morphodynamics of natural large compound dunes. In detail the following objectives were addressed:
• High-resolution mapping of Knudedyb inlet with multibeam echosounder (MBES),
• Collection of water samples and turbidity data for backscatter calibration,
• Collection of velocity and bathymetric data on 2 transects over different bedforms in order to characterise the hydrodynamics and morphodynamics of these bedforms
• Investigating lateral variations of hydrodynamics and morphodynamics through collection of 2 transects on either side of the channel and parallel one to another.
