Research interests
- Photo-mosaicing for seafloor mapping, biomass and gas fluxes quantification
- Deep sea hot and cold vents
- GIS-based spatial analyses
Project
The project is part of the SENSEnet program, an Initial Training Network within the Marie Curie Actions of the European Commission framework. SENSEnet is aimed towards the development of in-situ sensors for the long-term monitoring of the marine environment.
The purpose of my research is to use data from multiple sensors (optical, acoustic, CTD, physicochemical data) in geographic information systems. Particular attention is given on the use of optical data in the form of photo-mosaics of the sea bottom. Photo-mosaics are powerful tools that offer unequalled efficiency to picture an area of interest. Such data will be integrated into GIS systems, and will serve as basis to site descriptions, spatial analyses such as area calculations, and quantification of vent-related processes.
