Who is who?
IODP
The Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) is an international scientific research endeavour which began October 1, 2003. IODP will support technologically advanced global ocean research, which will enable investigation of Earth's oceanic regions and processes that were previously inaccessible and poorly understood.

ECORD
ECORD is a consortium of 14 countries: Canada , Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom are participating in IODP. At present (summer 2004), membership negotiations are in progress with Austria, Belgium, Greece, and Ireland. ECORD joined IODP on March 15, 2004.

ESO
ESO is a consortium of European scientific institutions formed to undertake Mission Specific Platform (MSP) operations for ECORD on behalf of IODP. The Arctic Coring Expedition is the first of these operations. ESO is coordinated by the British Geological Survey, and includes the University of Bremen and the European Petrophysical Consortium which itself comprises several European universities.

SPRS
On behalf of ESO he Swedish Polar Research Secretarait (SPRS) is supplying ice managment and logistics to the ACEX expedition.

The Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe acts as the German coordination office in rspect with the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP).
