Teachers` & Artist Program

During the Arctic Coring Expedition, ACEX, an Outreach Program is participating on board the icebreaker Oden. The Outreach Program consists of two teachers and one artist.

The central goals of the Teachers Program are:

- to provide teachers with an opportunity to participate in seagoing research experiences, working side-by-side with scientists, using current state-of-the-art approaches to solve scientific problems of global interest, and gaining first-hand knowledge of the results of seagoing science expeditions
- to translate scientific results into useful teaching resources, such as classroom curriculum materials
- to distribute these resources to classrooms

The European teacher has been recruited in cooperation with ESSAC. The main purpose of ESSAC is to maximize ECORD's scientific and technological contribution. The American teacher is participating as a result of cooperation with the ARMADA Project at Office of Marine Programs, University of Rhode Island.
