3rd Graduate Symposium 'Career Paths of Marine and Climate Scientists' 2018

Idea

The graduate symposium aims at introducing different job perspectives in marine and climate sciences in their widest sense.
It focuses on career paths outside academia including for example jobs in industry, administration or consulting.

 

Target group

The symposium addresses early career scientists who are interested in broadening their horizon and getting new ideas for their own career development.
 

Programme

The programme includes 15-20 min lectures by invited professionals followed by 10 min for questions and discussion. Speakers will be asked to speak about their job and about the career steps they took to get this position.
Further time for discussion with the professionals will be given during the coffee and lunch breaks.

In addition, there will be "round-table" discussions for groups with a limited number of 10 participants with 1-2 professionals for indepth discussions on specific topics.

The full programme will be held in English.

Fee

5 EUR for members and alumni of the institutions organizing the symposium
10 EUR for all others

Most of the costs of the graduate symposium will be covered by the graduate schools and PhD programmes and through sponsorship. The fees cover a small proportion some of the expenses.
Lunch as well as drinks and snacks during the coffee breaks are included in the fee.

The fee must be paied in one of the coordinator's offices before 13 May 2018.
