The GLOMAR Research Training Programme

The GLOMAR research training programme is designed to ensure optimum conditions for doctoral candidates in pursuing their PhD. It provides a unique discipline-specific and interdisciplinary training that ensures that all research postgraduates acquire the research skills and competencies necessary to complete their research theses.

The research training programme comprises:

  • A diverse course programme,
  • Monthly research seminars,
  • External research experiences,
  • The Bremen PhD Days in Marine Sciences,
  • Active participation in international scientific conferences, and
  • Early self-responsibility in competition for additional funding




A GLOMAR certificate is awarded to every student who has completed her/his Ph.D. and passed the full training programme (see also GLOMAR curriculum).
