MARUM PhD workshop on 'Sediment Dynamics in the SW Atlantic'

17 - 18.1.2011
MARUM room 2070

Next to several talks given by PhD students and several researchers from Bremen, key lectures will be given by international experts on oceanography, sediment dynamics and climate research.

If you want to contribute and give a talk as well, fell free to contact us.

Goals

The general goal of this workshop is to discuss the different concepts that are the foundation for a detailed understanding of variations in the ocean circulation and their related sedimentary processes in the SW Atlantic over geological time scales. This workshop will substantially expand the results of local individual paleo-climatic and paleo-oceanographic studies focused in the SW Atlantic by contrasting of theoretical and observational studies. This will stimulate the research work and in particular the collaboration between different MARUM projects and their project partners. Additionally, this effort will give PhD students the opportunity to establish an international inter-disciplinary network by contacting local experts from other institutes and countries, which will help to accomplish the goals of each PhD project.
