Synopsis
Leg M76/3a to the northern and southern regions of the Congo Canyon and to the Nigerian margin aims at investigating fluid and gas seeps via high-resolution seismo-acoustic mapping, as well as AUV and video observations. We plan to investigate the controls of fluid and gas migration, the accumulation of free gas in and beneath the gas hydrate stability zone, and the geochemical and microbiological interactions at the sediment-water interface.
