North Atlantic and Arctic Climate Variability
IODP Topic Symposium
University Campus Bremen, Germany
15 - 16 August, 2007
IODP (SASEC) is planning the first topical symposium in 2007 under the subject "North Atlantic and Arctic Climate Variability". It will take place from August 15 to 16, 2007, at the University of Bremen organised by of Prof. Dr. Gerold Wefer, MARUM.
Members of the steering committee are: Jan Backmann, Rüdiger Stein, Jim Channell, Kozo Takahashi, Dick Kroon, Eystein Jansen, Maureen Raymo and Gerold Wefer.
There will be four main topics, each filled with invited lectures and posters:
- Millennial-Scale Climate Dynamics (chaired by Eystein Jansen, Gerold Wefer)
- Milankovitch Scale Climate Variability (chaired by Maureen Raymo, Jim Channell)
- Evolution of Northern Hemisphere Glaciation (chaired by Jan Backmann, Rudy Stein)
- Extreme Warm Events (chaired by Dick Kroon, Kozo Takahashi)
The symposium will be combined with an ECORD/IODP summer school on paleoceanography for advanced PhD-students and young postdocs. The summer school will take place in Bremen between August 13 and 24, 2007. Interested PhD studends should send applications for scholarships to the ESSAC Office before February 25, 2007
