IODP Core Repository

In the only core repository of the IODP in Europe, located at MARUM, 135 Kilometeres of deep-sea cores are stored - a valuable archive for marine reseachers worldwide.

An accurate description is necessary - appearance tells a lot of details about the cores.

150 to 200 scientists visit the repository every year. Further 20.000 samples are sent to researchers wolrdwide.

Students and the broad public alike appreciate the core repository as a fascinating place of learning.
