ROV and AUV

Also part of my work is the function as ROV pilot and teamleader of ROV cruises with our ROVs Quest and Cherokee. The challenge consists of the fulfilling of scientific requirements while looking at the same time on the possibilities of the ship and the environmental conditions (weather, relief, currents).
I also work partly in the team of the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV Seal).

Moorings: planning and operation

The planning of deep sea moorings and buoy moorings (projects CANIGO, ESTOC, DOMEST, DOLAN) and the operation of the mooring is another part of my work.
That contains the maintenance of long time moorings for monitoring activities off Cape Blanc and the design of drift traps for short time operation in the same region and the polar seas.

Device servicing and scheduling

The maintenance servicing of the different geoscientific tools and devices (gravity corers, multicorers, grabbers, CTDs, and so on) and the scheduling of the equipment for the different expeditions ensure the undisturbed process of scientific activities onboard the ships. Beneath that the ordering and the supply of consumables is necessary for the work process.
