Fossilien und globaler Klimawandel

Inhalt:
At several periods within the history of our planet, global climatic change had severe impact on the marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Within the scope of the current concern about effects of possible future global change, it is an important challenge in earth science to trace the causes and mechanisms that led to past changes and the effects it had on the biosphere. During the course the actual theories concerning possible causes and effects of major global change events in Earth history; early radiation of life; Palaeozoic Fauna’s, the proterozoic world (snowball earth), early development Land Plants, the Permian/Triassic boundary, Cretaceous oceanic anoxic events, P/T), the cretaceous/tertiary boundary, external climate forcing, onset Glaciations and possible present day climate change, will be discussed.

Ziel:
Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, einen vertieftenden Einblick in die Entwicklung von Ökosystemen vor dem Hintergrund klimatischer Veränderungen im Laufe der phanerozoischen Erdgeschichte zu entwickeln.
