Application
Individual researchers and small research teams of maximum 4 scientists can apply for access to the research facilities as specified on this web-site.
Before making a formal application please contact us informally in order to ensure that we can help you with your research project and that the requested research facilities have free capacity. Please refer to “terms of access and funding” in order to ensure that you are eligible to benefit under Paleostudies.
The next step will be a formal application by filling in the application form. Please complete the form and email it to us as an attachement. Additionally, please send or fax a signed copy to the address specified on the application form.
An independent user panel, consisting of two scientists from Bremen and two external experts, will make a selection out of the project proposals on the base of scientific merit. Priority will be given to PhD-students and young postdocs as well as applicants who have not previously used our facilities. The final approval will be given by the European Commission.
There have been two fixed yearly deadlines for reception of project proposals: March 1 and September 1.
Unfortunately, the Paleostudies contract is covered already, there will be no further call for applications in 2004.
Applicants will be informed of the results of the evaluation procedure usually within 4 weeks after the respective deadline. Appointed projects can usually be initiated as early as two months after the deadline. The participation in graduate courses for PhD students may be approved faster. However, depending on the actual usage of the requested facilities short delays can not be excluded. In order to provide the maximum technical and scientific support, we will advice you on the best dates for your visit.
