Personal computers

Personal computers can be connected to ESO LANs, and can access the database, shared file structure, printers etc. The connection may be either wired or wireless depending on the location within the platform/site. It is recommended that you protect your PCs power supply with a surge protector at all times. This is particularly important for the Offshore Phase. Even in an area of the platform with a ‘clean’ power supply, there can still be surges and spikes that could damage your computer.

For the Offshore Phase, IT hardware and software support on the platform is likely to be very limited, so be prepared to be as self sufficient as possible. When you come to the platform, your PC must have the latest updates to its anti-virus software installed.
