Research Interests:
- Reconstructing Pliocene changes in climate and oceanography in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific, including the closure of the Isthmus of Panama, the intensification of the Northern Hemisphere Glaciation, permanent El Niño like climate, and the development of upwelling intensity in the Atlantic and Pacific.

- Ongoing development of Mg/Ca as a proxy to reconstruct past changes in sea surface temperatures on (planktonic) foraminifers.

- Further development of cleaning procedures and analysis by ICP-OES for Mg/Ca-paleothermometry (inter-laboratory comparison, Mg/Ca workshop Biarritz’04)

Research Expeditions:
2002: RV Marion Dufresne MD127/PAGE (Cancun-Tampa-Belem)
2008: RV Meteor 75/2 (Dar es Salaam - Dar es Salaam)
