  • Climate variability in Africa (Western Sahel and Tanzania/Kenya region) inferred from high-resolution palynological studies
  • Reconstruction of oceanic conditions in the tropical eastern Atlantic and western Indian Oceans
  • Paleoecological analysis (pollen, spores, dinoflagellates and fresh water algae) in marine sediments off NW and SE Africa
  • Development of African vegetation during times of climate changes
