Facilities/Expertise

Analytical facilities include core repositories, laboratories for initial investigations of marine sediment cores (e.g., core sampling and description, photographing, core logging, etc), highly sophisticated facilities (e.g., several mass spectrometer for stable isotope analyses, core scanner for non-destructive measurements of chemical elements, high resolution ICP-MS, a unique set of instruments for paleo and rock magnetic analyses, etc), and paleoceanographic modelling facilities.

These facilities combined with high quality scientific expertise provide the opportunity for a broad spectrum of marine research activities, especially for young European scientists, ranging from the initial handling of sediment cores through the measurement and statistical analysis of paleoenvironmental data to the interpretation of results.
