Scientific Interests
- Biogeochemical cycling of silica
- Links between biogeochemical cycles and climate over various time scales
- "Non-traditional" stable isotopes (Si, Ca, Ge, and C and N present in diatom cell wall organic material) as tracers of biogeochemical cycles
- Physiological, ecological, and physical controls on the isotopic composition of biominerals
- The accumulation of mineral "ballast" on sinking particulate organic carbon and its role in the global carbon cycle
